The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)

Dar Jana International School is a Candidate School* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). These schools share a common philosophy, a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education essential for our students.

The IB PYP is designed for students aged 3 to 12 and focuses on developing curious, confident, and compassionate learners. It offers an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning, helping students make meaningful connections between classroom learning and the world.

Transdisciplinary Themes

At the heart of the programme are the six transdisciplinary themes, which provide a framework for exploring knowledge across traditional subject boundaries. These themes encourage students to think deeply about global issues and personal experiences, helping them develop a broad understanding of themselves and their world:

Who We Are

Where We Are in Place and Time

An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; and the discoveries and migrations that shape our world.

How We Express Ourselves

An inquiry into the ways we discover and express ideas, feelings, culture, beliefs, and values.

How the World Works

An inquiry into human-made systems and communities; organizational structures; and the impact of decision-making.
